The Play: FOMO 2

FOMO 2 is a prequel to 2016’s FOMO that explored how a young boy grappled with the death of his older brother by tapping into his imagination. It is set some years prior where the older brother, the now protagonist, has just received the diagnosis of cancer. His reaction to the news and its developments is the focus of the play as it delves into the origins of FOMO’s imaginary universe.

We see the curious possibilities of this universe come to effect as the protagonist integrates the unlikeliest of real-world characters into his elaborate, medieval fantasy of animals, knights and squires. Developing in parallel with the real storyline, these imaginary stories are shaped and reshaped by the protagonist’s changing thoughts and feelings but ultimately we see their role in forming an everlasting bond between siblings, the younger brother eventually building upon this world in his own mind as we step into the time of FOMO’s beginning.

The Charity: Palmera Projects

Palmera is an Australian-based, not-for-profit organisation made up of young professionals who are passionate about helping others. We believe that freedom can only be achieved once people are free to make choices, and a key enabler to choice is the ability to make a living and better yourself, your family, and your community.

Our projects focus on rural and war-affected communities in Sri Lanka where the ability to make a living has been stripped away. Through the implementation of sustainable livelihood projects, Palmera restores freedom to hard-working families who deserve to live in dignity and offer their children the best possible future.

Palmera is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profit Commission and is a deductible-gift recipient.  Palmera is also signatory to the ACFID Code of Conduct, representing our commitment to ethical standards in development, governance, financial management, and public accountability.
